The Lost Road is named for a historical logging road that weaves through Spring Ridge, now lost on the edge of time. It winds its way up like a vine itself, over hill and dale, on both sides of the ridge, passing the winery, and glancing at our three Pinot Noir plantings: Hidden, Picnic, and Upper Picnic Blocks.

Each block is picked, fermented, pressed, and aged separately in barrel, and a block-designate bottling is made from each of the three after approximately one year. The Lost Road components are blended in tank and returned to neutral oak barrels to complete another six months of aging. No further new oak is imprinted on the wine. The extra time allows for slow and gentle evolution of the wine, heading to bottle as both a representative of the three blocks of Pinot Noir, and something entirely its own as well.

The fruit and savory expressions knit together, the mouthfeel becomes both more expansive and shapely, the texture and tannins building to a crescendo that releases in a long finish that is still bright, dancing on the tip of the palate as it twinkles to fade.
