2021 Plum Block ‘Leoncita’ Chardonnay Oaked
This is Neely Wine’s first iteration of our neutral-oaked Leoncita Block Chardonnay. Leoncita Block (aka Plum Block) was planted in 2017 and was first harvested in 2019. Being the young block that it is we experimented with a small portion of our 2022 juice and sought to determine how it handled oak aging. Fermented in neutral oak barrels, this wine has a fuller mouthfeel and a more defined structure than its stainless steel counterpart. The freshness is still apparent and notes of Kishu mandarin, orange blossom, and fresh hay are abundant on the nose and palate. Bright acid and a warm finish round out this excellent offering.
